What does a Graphic Designer do?

They may also work on marketing campaigns, corporate identity packages, and website designs.

Graphic designers must keep up with new and updated computer graphics and design software, either on their own or through formal software training programs. They must also understand the latest trends in the design industry and be able to incorporate them into their work.

Responsibilities

• Developing concepts, graphics, and layouts for product illustrations, company logos, and websites
• Determining size and arrangement of illustrative material and copy, and font style and size
• Preparing rough drafts of material based on an agreed brief
• Reviewing final layouts and suggesting improvements if required
• Liaising with external printers on a regular basis to ensure deadlines are met and material is printed to the highest quality

Requirements

• Proven graphic designing experience
• A strong portfolio of illustrations or other graphics
• Familiarity with design software and technologies (such as InDesign, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Photoshop)
• A keen eye for aesthetics and details
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to work methodically and meet deadlines
• Degree in Design, Fine Arts or related field is a plus
